BC Baling Day shipment bound for Mauritania
Members of the BC Baling committee and volunteers from congregations throughout the lower mainland worked together on May 12 to pack a 20-foot cargo container with kits and quilts gathered from area congregations. The shipment, destined for Mauritania, contains almost 2,400 blankets and over 1,200 layettes. Items, which are valued at approximately $55,000, will be distributed by CLWR’s partner, Lutheran World Federation-Mauritania.
The annual BC Baling Day event takes place at the Mennonite Central Committee warehouse in Clearbrook. Shipping from Vancouver offers a more direct route than sending all the goods to Winnipeg for shipping from an eastern port.
