Canadian Lutheran World Relief, in partnership with groups and congregations across Canada, has welcomed about 40,000 refugees to Canada since 1946. As one of the Canadian government’s top Sponsorship Agreement Holders, CLWR assists groups in bringing individuals and families to Canada from around the world.

Refugees come from many areas of the world, including Afghanistan, Burma (Karen refugees), Burundi, Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Somalia. About 200 refugee applications are submitted annually.
