Fundraising Idea: "CHIC"
A number of years ago, two women decided they would raise support for Canadian Lutheran World Relief by hosting a fun and informative evening for women, highlighting women's issues in India. They called it "CHIC," an acronym standing for Compassion, Hope, Inspiration and Celebration. This is how they did it:
- They placed a consignment order with CLWR's Alternative Trade Program so that they could sell handcrafted linens from India.
- They created invitations and sent them to a dozen friends. They asked each friend for a donation to cover the basic costs of the event (e.g. ordered Indian food for supper).
- They invited a woman who did Henna art to attend and offer tattoos for a price ($5-25).
- They made a brief presentation and had displays of information from CLWR.
The evening raised $500 for Canadian Lutheran World Relief.
