Shipment sent to flood-affected Zambia
Floods in the Chama region of Zambia have destroyed crops, killed livestock and left the displaced people in dire need of food, clothing, bedding and shelter. On April 20, a 20-foot container was loaded from CLWR’s Winnipeg warehouse, bound for Lusaka, Zambia. Thanks to the generosity of groups and individuals across Canada, 2,063 quilts, 1020 blankets, 564 layettes, 1,694 assorted kits, 1,025 lb. of clothing, 248 lb. of hospital items, and 842 lb. of soap—a shipment valued at $71,110—are on their way to give relief and assistance to the flood-affected in the Chama region of Zambia where Lutheran World Federation is active.

New CLWR Director of Communications and Education Named
Daranne Mills has been appointed as the new Director of Communications and Education for Canadian Lutheran World Relief and will assume her position in August.
CLWR’s Director of Communications and Education is responsible for leading and working with the CLWR communications team in the development of tools and materials which will challenge and educate the constituency served by CLWR, for ensuring that CLWR is well represented in the public media, and for developing effective fundraising initiatives.
Mills is currently a student of Lutheran Theological Seminary (LTS) in Saskatoon, serving an internship at Hope Lutheran Church in Calgary. Prior to entering the seminary, Mills served as a Communications Intern with the Lutheran World Federation in Geneva. While studying at LTS, she has participated in CLWR cross-cultural programs in Peru and India.
