Social or service ministry has its roots in the early ministry of Jesus Christ and the Church. For many groups and congregations today it has become a means of not only giving life to others, but also of receiving life for those who undertake these simple acts of compassion. Local service opportunities abound if people are willing to open their eyes to the brokenness around them. However, global service involvement is also a vital part of any congregation or group's mission.
