A devastating flash flood has struck northern Nepal near the border with Tibet, sweeping through communities along the Bhote Koshi River. Homes, roads, bridges and critical infrastructure have been destroyed, while families have been forced from their homes and rescue teams continue searching for people who are missing.
At least 22 people have been confirmed dead, with hundreds more reported missing as search and rescue operations continue. The full extent of the damage is still emerging.
The disaster has severely affected communities in Rasuwa and surrounding areas, where difficult mountain terrain and damaged roads and infrastructure are making rescue and relief efforts especially challenging. Authorities have also warned of further flooding and landslides.
How your support helps in crisis
Emergency Shelter
Families whose homes have been destroyed or damaged may need emergency shelter materials, blankets and essential household items to stay safe and protected while they begin to recover.
Clean Water & Sanitation
Flooding can contaminate drinking water and damage sanitation systems. Safe water, hygiene supplies and sanitation support can help prevent the spread of waterborne disease in the critical days and weeks following the disaster.
Essential Relief
When homes and belongings are swept away, families can lose food, clothing, cooking supplies and other basic necessities. Emergency relief items can help families get through the immediate aftermath with greater safety and dignity.
