You can also make your gift today online today!

We know that change happens when communities come together to serve others in times of need. That’s why we’re looking for businesses and organizations that share our values of compassion, sustainability and justice, to join us in being Friends of Creation.

CLWR has launched an ambitious project in the Lake Chad region, where rising temperatures and changing rainfall patterns pushed entire communities toward collapse. The lake has long supported millions of people, but in just a few decades the soil around it became infertile and communities were left without the means to survive.

In response, our faithful supporters are sponsoring acres of restoration around the lake to:

  • heal farmland with regenerative agriculture.
  • maintain food security in the region.
  • reforest the land with agroforestry.
  • catch and manage water before it disappears.
  • support women and families who are at risk of violence.

Friends of Creation Challenge 2025

Today, we invite your business or organization to take on the challenge, with just three easy steps:

  1. Commit to learning about how climate change is playing out around Lake Chad. (We have free resources to help!)
  1. Choose at least one thing from our list of suggested actions your businesses or organization can take (or come up with your own!)
  1. Decide on a number of acres around Lake Chad that you’ll sponsor. It costs just $50 to restore one entire acre and make a real, tangible impact. How many acres can you sponsor today?

We can also help you set up an online fundraising platform on our website if you want to fundraise as part of the challenge!

Why become a Friend of Creation?

  • Help restore and transform an ecosystem so that we can put food on tables, prevent disease, and support a sustainable, growing economy in the region.
  • Enhance your brand by showing your commitment to caring for creation aligning with our values of compassion and justice.
  • Engage your customers and employees with this campaign to show your stakeholders that your business or organization is socially responsible and globally aware.
  • Meet your environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals. This campaign is a practical, easy way to engage more deeply in climate action and show your concern.

And, furthermore, any donations you make to CLWR are eligible for a charitable tax receipt under Canadian law.

By becoming a Friend of Creation, your business or organization will also receive:

  • follow-up stories, impact reports and videos from the project so that you and your stakeholders can see the difference made in the acres you sponsored.
  • a digital badge for display on your website and social channels.
  • a printed certificate to display in your office or building.
  • a way to help your stakeholders feel some hope about climate, global justice and the difference they can make.

We expect that after two and a half years of this project, over 128,000 people will benefit directly from better nutrition, water access, crop yields, and sustainable futures. In addition, 640,000 people will be able to live and work in a restored ecosystem.

This is an opportunity to achieve something truly wonderful together by restoring one of God’s most beautiful creations.
